Tour Itinerary

DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN MEDAN – JOURNEY TO BUKIT LAWANG

Upon arrival at Kualanamu International Airport, you will be welcomed by our tour guide and begin your scenic journey to Bukit Lawang, the gateway to Gunung Leuser National Park. Along the drive, enjoy views of lush countryside and stop at several plantations to see rubber and palm oil production, two of the region’s most important commodities. The journey takes you through rural landscapes, and local villages before reaching the edge of the rainforest.
Arrive in Bukit Lawang, a riverside village famous for its orangutan and trekking opportunities. After check-in at your hotel, the rest of the day is free to relax, explore the village, or enjoy the peaceful atmosphere by the river in preparation for tomorrow’s jungle adventure.

DAY 02: JUNGLE TREKKING IN GUNUNG LEUSER NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast at the lodge, begin your jungle trekking adventure deep into Gunung Leuser National Park, one of the last remaining tropical rainforests in Sumatra and part of the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra. Your experienced local guide will lead you through narrow jungle trails surrounded by towering trees, exotic plants, and the sounds
of the wild. Along the way, there is a high chance of spotting Sumatran orangutans in their natural habitat, as well as other fascinating wildlife such as Thomas leaf monkeys, long-tailed macaques, gibbons, black gibbons, reptiles, hornbills, and a variety of tropical bird species. The guide will also introduce you to the diverse flora of the rainforest, including medicinal plants and giant hardwood trees.
At midday, enjoy a Picnic lunch in the jungle before continuing deeper into the forest. In the late afternoon, arrive at a campsite where you will spend the night in a simple tent or jungle shelter. Experience the unique atmosphere of the rainforest after dark, with the symphony of insects and the calming flow of the nearby river.

DAY 03: FULL-DAY TREKKING & RETURN TO BUKIT LAWANG

Wake up to the refreshing sounds of the jungle and enjoy a simple breakfast prepared by your guide before setting off on another day of jungle exploration in Gunung Leuser National Park. Today’s trek takes you along winding forest trails where you can continue to encounter semi wild orangutans, gibbons, macaques, hornbills, and countless other wildlife species in their natural rainforest
habitat. As you walk deeper into the forest, your guide will point out fascinating plants and explain the ecosystem of this protected national park. You’ll stop midday to enjoy a Picnic lunch in the heart of the jungle, surrounded by the towering trees and natural soundtrack of the rainforest.
In the afternoon, the trek gradually leads back toward Bukit Lawang village. Upon arrival, check in to your accommodation and enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure perhaps relaxing by the Bohorok River or sharing stories with fellow travelers.

Day 04: Kayaking on the Landak River, Bukit Lawang

Kayaking in the Bukit Lawang area. You will be transported by scooter to the Landak River, about a one-hour drive away. Before starting your kayaking excursion, you will receive safety instructions, after which the adventure can begin. The river is calm, and during the trip you can enjoy the scenery and observe wildlife. Various species of monkeys, toucans, and hornbills live in this region. You will also see many lizards along the riverbanks.
Around midday, you will stop for lunch and have time to cool off in the clear water. In the afternoon, you will continue your kayaking excursion. The total duration of the trip is approximately 4–5 hours. This excursion is suitable for children aged 6 and above. Children under 12 share a kayak with an adult.

Day 05: BUKIT LAWANG – BERASTAGI

This morning, travel from Bukit Lawang to the highland town of Berastagi, famous for its cool climate, fruit plantations, and views of surrounding volcanoes. The scenic route passes through villages such as Namu Ukur, Rumah Galuh, and Simpang Kuta Buluh, and offers dramatic views of Mount Sinabung, an active volcano.
Upon arrival in Berastagi, visit the following highlights:

  • Lhumbini Park, featuring a golden replica of Myanmar’s famous Shwedagon Pagoda.
  • The lively fruit and flower market, bursting with colorful produce and tropical flowers.
  • Gundaling Hill, a viewpoint offering spectacular panoramas of Mt. Sibayak and Mt. Sinabung.

Later, check into your highland hotel and enjoy the fresh mountain air.

Day 06: SUNRISE HIKING AT MOUNT SIBAYAK VOLCANO – LAU DEBUK HOT SPRING – MEDAN

Start the day early with a 03:30 am drive to the slopes of Mount Sibayak, one of North Sumatra’s most accessible volcanoes. From here, begin a rewarding trek of approximately three hours (round trip) to reach the summit. At the peak, you’ll be greeted with panoramic views of the volcanic landscape and, if weather permits, a breathtaking sunrise over the Karo Highlands. Mount Sibayak
is famous for its geothermal activity, where steaming fumaroles release sulfur gases that form striking crystalline deposits. You’ll also find a small, heart-shaped crater lake surrounded by volcanic rock formations, where past visitors have left “love” messages using the stones. This is the perfect spot to capturememorable photos.
After exploring the summit and admiring the otherworldly scenery, descend the volcano via an alternate route. Reward yourself with a relaxing dip in one of the natural hot spring pools at the base, a soothing way to refresh after the climb. Then return to hotel and prepare to drive back to Medan. Arrival at Medan check-in to hotel.

Day 07: DEPARTURE FROM MEDAN

After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy free time until your scheduled transfer to Kualanamu
